Perspective

Contrary to popular belief, the chase is great.

Tom might not like the chase. He might not like Jerry’s cheese even more. But he still does his thing, running around and getting sliced by huge knife, because he wants, no, he needs Jerry. He knows it’s the only way. And eventually, he’ll love the chase.

Although things never work out for Tom, he is still a smart feline. He knows the law of attraction which tells him that with persistence, he’d eventually get what he wants. He has his motivation and ever-consistent effort to prove it. In the end, he knows it’s worth it.

To make things worse, the dog sides with Jerry. Even though this is the case, Tom never gave up even at an apparent disadvantage.

There are times Tom already had Jerry. He had him at his hands, at his mercy. But Tom made big mistakes, deviated away by temptation, and eventually lost Jerry again.

This is the reason why we watch the show. We’re all waiting for the day Tom finally learns from his mistakes and catches Jerry, once and for all.

You also know, deep inside, Jerry loves the chase.

This is the Tom and Jerry Show.
